Laptop Cushion

You may not know it, but there should be a number of variables that go into your decision to buy a laptop cushion.  If you buy the wrong pad, you may attain one particular quality you were looking for but miss another important characteristic that you discover the importance of during use.  The following list will assist you in your purchase.

First and foremost, aim for a comfortable laptop cushion.  The last thing you want to end up with is hard plastic adorning your laptop or a 3 pound add on compressing your lap.  Aim for something light weight that is made of soft material such as nylon or microfiber.

Next on the list is an adequate stable surface.  If you own a larger notebook such as the 17 inch hp, you need to protect your interests and make sure the surface area will encompass the computer.  Also, you don't want a lumpy pouch on the bottom of your laptop desktop because this creates an uneven surface with which to work on.  The result will be you're constantly shifting and jockeying to try to find the perfect level.

Additionally, it's important a cushion for your laptop have a means of keeping the laptop cool.  There are cooling pads and laptop coolers built specifically for this purpose.  You don't necessarily need a ventilation system (although it would be nice to have) but at a minimum, you want to have a very tight fabric surface (so vents don't suffocate) with light fabric covering the pad.

Another consideration is ease of use and transportation.  Some laptop lap desks are made for those constantly traveling and flying in planes.  They fold up or can easy slide into a laptop carrier bag.  On the other hand, some laptop cushions are better suited for home use because they are bulky, awkward, or simply don't fit anywhere and must be hand held.

Finally, consider this: The reason you're buying a laptop cushion is to keep a heated laptop off your lap and elevated so that it is easier to type on and enjoy altogether.  You'll find there are more expensive and elaborate options available that offer what amounts to a portable desk complete with coffee and food tray, but stick to the basics and don't stray far from your original object.  In other words, don't turn a relatively simple item into a multifaceted gadget that you weren't originally seeking.
